A little about me.....

Thanks for stopping by my new site. The old site was getting tired so I moved to a blog format vs a "flashy" image site. So a little about me. I reside in Hamilton with my wife and children. Similar to you, we are a pretty busy family with lots of running around. Both our children are active in after school sports which you will see reflected in my photography.

I have been shooting for over 25 years, with a major focus in the last 5 years. I have a dual carerer. I am a Director of Marketing for a large consumer packaged goods company in Canada and I also have my photography business. Though you might not see the direct relation at first, there is one. The years of experience in the CPG industry has provided me with a extensive knowledge of product development and positioning in the retail world. I use this experience within my photography business as it allows me to choose products that fit todays style and have the appropriate costing. The product lines and the print options I provide are built on a simple guideline: Good:Better:Best.

You need to make sure your choices are aligned with your budget and your specific needs.

INVESTMENT IN THE BUSINESS

I also  am pleased to provide you a modern and simple on line system for proofing and ordering your prints and my services. I believe this is the most consumer friendly photography site in the area. Please look for the link "Geoff's Online Store" on my BLOG. The other investment which I have made is in the leasing of a shooting space at The Imperial Cotton Center in Hamilton. When choosing your photographer look to see what investments they have made in their business, including equipment. You want the security of these investments behind your choice of services.

If you have any questions please feel free to call me or drop me an email.

Geoff

First Post of 2010…

Well a new year and a new decade. If you look back at the start of 2000 and compare it to the end of 2009 alot of things changed. Had a baby girl in 2000…. the world did not end in 2000… then 9/11….and a couple of wars broke out. We lost a few family members in the past decade which is never good… Sold tens of milllions of dollars worth of frozen dinners german pizzas and fish in a blue box across Canada. Still not sure where it all ends up…
Took some excellent trips across the world and saw some awesome places around the world…Italy,France,Southern Ireland,Northern Ireland,Cuba,D.Republic, San Diego, L.A, Palm Springs, San Fran , New York City , Miami, Vegas , Montreal , Vancouver , Calgary, Halifax and even Knoxville and Atlanta for business. I went to the Masters and stood 10 feet from Tiger and Golfed Pebble Beach on two separate trips…and for the majority of these trips I had my camera !

I also got back into photography in the middle part of the decade as new technology was released. I am also guessing that technology will be completely different by the end of decade vs the start. Todays iPhones will be a thing of the past and youtube will be something different and social media will be different too. Its going to be a different decade then the past…So whats in store for the next ten..who knows. But I plan on having a camera with me and will continue to push myself to create images better then the last….
